Re: Save Weatherwax

Thank you for your support of Weatherwax, Ocean Shores own rainforest.

The group, OSCBG, is focusing our attention at this time on preserving Weatherwax in its entirety, while some would like to sell off the point to private developers, and move golf holes from downtown into the wetlands west of the Pole Line Rd. Besides destroying the ecosystem and the heritage of this beautiful land for our descendants, the cost to citizens of Ocean Shores is estimated to be $1.6 million to move a golf course that brings no income to offset city expenses. What they may get for the property downtown could be much less than the expense to move these golf holes, leaving the citizens even more debt in a city already deeply in debt.

We need your help now, in this huge fight to save the Weatherwax, and also to keep the city aware of citizens concerns in all other areas of growth and nature protection.
We ARE being heard! With the new council members now in office, people are being allowed to speak at the beginning of meetings, not after all business has been decided and voted on. The council is slowing down on or stopping issues the former council majority were ready to rubber stamp approval on without citizens input. They are also becoming aware that citizens are paying attention and care about the Weatherwax and our city in general. We must make sure this progress continues.

OSCBG is dedicated to overseeing and providing input, and working with the city on all phases of growth in Ocean Shores. Our major task in recent times has been and still is, the preserving of the Weatherwax property as a “Nature Preserve” for future generations, to be used as Public Recreation Property. However, our concerns do not stop with the Weatherwax, and we are always looking to help maintain balanced growth in our town so as to benefit homeowners as well as the tourists who help support our city. We will continue to work toward these goals. We need your help to do this.
